I made these large hoop earrings to match my daughter's necklace, and Lava in Water", and when I finished them, I realized how much they resembled American Indian styles and colors. So I called them "Water Spirit" earrings. Just out of curiosity, I looked up the translation for water spirit and the best translation I could find was "A do nv do a ma". I'm no expert here, I don't have any experience translating other than, my "art spirit" felt right about the name.
They're made from steel hoops and beaded with A GRADE cat's eye glass beads in colors of red, turquoise, and royal blue. With a single aqua colored dichroic glass heart at the center and glass seed beads across the center wire. Since these are a bit weighty, I attached a silver plated lever back ear wire with a slightly heavier metal than my other French hook wires have. The leverback has a little puff heart accent on the front of the earwire.
These are quite large earrings, the hoop measures 60mm across, (2-1/2"), and the pair weigh 3/4 oz., so I wouldn't recommend them for someone who is sensitive to weight. But they are a true fashion statement and truly one-of-a-kind. I've made only 3 pair. If they sell I'll consider making more. But for now I can say that if you find this earring somewhere else, they have been copied.
Please note: these are not Native American or American Indian made earrings or reproductions. They were purely my own creations and are not affiliated with any Native American or American Indian tribe.
